The Northeast has been in the depth of a long drought worsened by a past week of plus-90 temperatures. I had planned to go up North, but the heat was too wicked for an old man and I opted to remain in New York. I haven’t left the apartment in days, except to get food.
Yesterday I sat at my writing desk and watched the western sky blacken with storm clouds, expecting a monsoon, however the rain only offered a brief reprieve and the thermometer climbed back to the 90s.
Manhattan and the Hudson Valley were blessed with a biblical deluge and Dan Martland luckily caught the storm in all its majesty.
