The Original Six

Back in the last century the NHL had six hockey teams from New York, Boston, Montreal, Toronto, Chicago, and Detroit. Throughout the early 1960 the Canadians and Detroit dominated the Stanley Cup. The NHL expanded in 1967 with the addition of the Los Angeles Kings, Minnesota North Stars, Philadelphia Flyers, Pittsburgh Penguins, California Seals and St. Louis Blues. My Bruins beat the NY Rangers in 1972 and the last Original Six Stanley Cup championship took place in 1979 with the Les Habitants beating the Rangers 4-1.

Last night the Chicago Blackhawks defeated last year’s victors, the LA Kings, setting up an Original Six Stanley Cup against the Boston Bruins.

The first game will be played in Chicago this coming Wednesday.

Blackhawks versus the Bruins.

Classic.
