Geraldine Winifred Visco has organized a demo against the fucking Rich.
Punk Out! with us on the steps of the Metropolitan Museum on Friday May 10th at noon.
Put on those safety pins, get that Mohawk out, and Punk Out baby, but dress like a REAL punk, unlike the red carpet celebs.
This will be for fun and we will keep it light hearted + legal, but dress crazy. Photographers and videographers will be on hand to document our response to the commercialization of punk. Instead of a red carpet, we’ll have a black carpet! Having been part of the punk movement myself in the 1970s, I can only say that the Metropolitan Museum’s show (which I haven’t seen yet but will see on Friday!) seems to be a travesty of the real thing. It doesn’t even sound particularly archival or historical and seems mainly a way to showcase some rather bland designers from the more recent past. The red carpet gala was a nauseating reminder of our current culture of corporate greed.
If this goes well, we can schedule it again for those of you at those day jobs!! Write to me at [email protected] if you have any suggestions or would like to help document or publicize Punk Out!
