“The best thing one can do when it’s raining is to let it rain.” Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
This week the leaders of the G-20 met in London. Their mission – to save the world economy. Their plan – a trillion dollar stimulus package aimed at staving off the wrost aspects of global decline. The NYSE reacted to their efforts with a surge on the Dow Jones. Stocks gained value. Brokers celebrated with Kobe steak and cigars. Governments decalred that they had met the challenge with bold determination.
I’m still predicting the Dow Jones at 6000 by the end of April.
I’ve bet a bottle of Chateau Neuf-des-Papes on this outcome, mostly because I’ve read TS Eliot’s THE WASTELAND.
“APRIL is the cruellest month, breeding
Lilacs out of the dead land, mixing
Memory and desire, stirring
Dull roots with spring rain.”
And it is certainly raining today in New York City.
