Adios Manny

The Boston Red Sox and the Chicago Cubs were cursed throughout the 20th Century. I don’t give a shit about the Cubbies, since I was born in Boston. I’m a Red Sox fan, although I lived in New York 27 years. I watched Bucky Dent’s homer at the Edison Hotel on Broadway. The Yankee fans never let us forget that victory, however in 2004 the Red Sox came from a 3-0 grave to beat the Yankees in the AL finals. They went 4-0 against the Cardinals to give the Red Sox Nation their first World Series Championship since 1918.

Manny Ramirez was a vital part of their line-up.

The outfielder was a headcase, but he combined with David Ortiz to threaten opposing teams with the most devastating 3-4 line-up in the majors.

Now he’s gone.

His agent wants a 4-year contact. The Red Sox were willing to sign the 36 year-old one year at a time. He sat himself last week with a bad knee. When it came time for an MRI he couldn’t remember which knee was the bad one. He bitchslapped the 1st baseman and pushed a 65 year-old travel secretary to the ground. He was hitting .289.

If he was hitting .320, he’d still be with the Red Sox instead of the Dodgers.

And I’ll bet the farm he’ll be with the Yankees next year.

Buena Suerta Ropehead.

ps the Red Sox fan in the photo is my loving daughter Angie.
