Last month Thai police in Ranong rescued nearly 70 Burmese illegals from a death trap in the back of a truck. Sadly 54 of these economic exiles from their native land were found dead from lack of oxygen. The survivors were treated in hospital for dehydration and were then jailed for having violated the immigration laws of Thailand. Yesterday the tragedy ended for most with deportation to Burma.
At least they were safe from the cyclone.
