America proudly praises its Bill of Rights as one of the greatest achievements of the18th century. The words of the forefathers written in the Constitution have survived wars, economic upheavals, and partisan politics, however the last two decades have eroded these inalienable rights and nowhere more profoundly than the freedom of speech.
You are still to speech in America, but only if you say what everyone says or wants to hear, as a senior Obama aide discovered this week after a Scottish reporter published her ‘off the record’ comment calling Hillary Clinton a “monster”.
Senator Obama reeling from defeats in Texas and Ohio had his spokespeople apologize for Samantha Power, who quit the campaign effort after her own apology. Loose lips sink careers in politics and Ms. Powers should have known better than to say anything to a journalist, who as Frank Sinatra said, “They’re all whores.”
Instead she took a phone call in her New York hotel room and afterwards said, “We f***** up in Ohio.” and then added, “She is a monster too – that is off the record – she is stooping to anything. You just look at her and think, ergh. But if you are poor and she is telling you that Obama is going to take your job away, maybe it will be more effective. The amount of deceit she has put forward is really unattractive.”
It was all over the media within minutes.
Personally I feel the same way, not that Hillary is a monster. More I don’t think I can handle seeing that smile and hearing that laugh four years. Certainly both had a little hand in driving her husband into the arms of Monica Lewinsky.
“If I hear that laugh one more time.”
Although his laugh ain’t much better.
