Where am I? Miss Teen America

After 9/11 a newspaper conducted a survey to see how many Americans could locate New York on a map. Readers were flabbergasted by the high percentage and this mental gap on geography was brought home to the TV audience during the Miss Teen USA pageant when the contestant from South Carolina was asked by the judge, “Recent polls have shown that a fifth of Americans can’t locate the USA on a world map. Why do you think this is?”

Miss South Carolina was more than cute. The 18 year-old blonde was sexy and I didn’t pay attention to her answer. Not in the least.

“I personally believe that U.S. Americans are unable to do so because some people out there in our nation don’t have maps and I believe that our education like such as in South Africa and the Iraq — everywhere like such as, and I believe that they should… our education over here in the U.S. should help the U.S. — or should help South Africa and should help the Iraq and the Asian countries so we will be able to build up our future…

The MC at this point removed the mike, but Ms. Lauren Caitlin Upton, was able to add, ” … for our children.”

I stood up and applauded like she was my mistress.

Other not so kind viewers accused Miss South Carolina of not knowing West Virgina from Montana. The TODAY SHOW gave her a second chance

“I didn’t do anything wrong. I wasn’t expecting [the question]. I lost my train of thought.”

Exactly.

Where’s the love, America?

Who cares where America is anyway when you’re standing in it. You don’t need a GPS or map to tell you that. I am where I am from sea to shining sea and proud of it. Go tell that to the mullahs of what’s it called.
