Alan Pratt tells a story about making love to a Thai woman in the waters off Jomtien Beach. The year was 1987. “The moon was rising and the water was cyrstal clear. Fish flitted across the surface, as I held this girl in my arms, thinking it doesn’t get better than this.”
20 years is a long time.
The sea off Pattaya today is beyond dirty.
Dead fish floated on the oily green water and the smell insulted the olfactory sense to the 11th degree. Some Thais were swimming off the point, but no one else dared to brave the filth. The city government might have dreams of Pattaya rivaling Phuket as a luxury destination. I wish I had what they have been smoking.
Certainly not ganga.
And if I believed in miracles, I wouldn’t walk on the water.
Grunge foot.
