Just got a DVD copy of FLIGHT 93, a dramatization of the the 9/11 flight which crashed in a Pennsylvania farm field. During the first showings of the trailer for this movie, audience members cried out, “Too soon.”
Too soon?
It’s been five years.
Wanna wait ten, twenty. Maybe 50.
After watching this movie I can only say, “Too late.”
At least it dispels any theories that the hijacking were caused by a collective hysteria about passengers not getting enough peanuts from the stewardesses.
Yawn. I fast-forwarded through the film like a porno addict seeking the hardcore scene. My thumb reduced the 110 minutes to about ten minutes. The hijackers are thin. The Americans are a little chunky. There are a series of emotional goodbyes via cell phones. Fast-forward. Tears, fast-forward. Attack on cockpit. This we can watch. Plane flipping over into field. bad special effects.
I was in New York on 9/11
I saw the second plane hit from my rooftop.

It was a bad day and this film doesn’t make it any better.
I don’t think they will be making any musicals about 9/11.
Or comedies.
But you can never tell with Hollywood.
They write history the ood old American way.
They make it up.
